Google have released the patched version of chrome browser Version 88.0.4324.150 Thursday to fix a vulnerability. This release contained a single security fix to address a critical zero-day vulnerability that had been exploited in the wild. As part of this release, Google notes that they are “aware of reports that an exploit” for this vulnerability “exists in the wild,” which we interpret to mean that in-the-wild exploitation attempts have been observed. Google have not revealed the bug information over an internet but other portals like ZDNET are talking about it. Google is the search giant and is actively being exploited in the wild. The update is rolling out now across Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Google is quiet skeptical while publishing specific details about the CVE-2021-21148 vulnerability “until a majority of users are updated with a fix.” But ZDNet notes that the date Google talks about the bug was found ( on 24th January 2021) is just one day before Google’s Threat Analysis Group published a hacking campaign that seems relying, in part, on an older version of Chrome. It said government-supported hackers based in North Korea had set up a blog to trap their targets to, which would inject infected code in their machines even if they were running updated software.
